Red is for Love and Green is for Steak

Whether you made a delicious homemade meal for two, enjoyed wine and chocolate with the girls, or went out on the town for a special night- I hope all of my followers had an amazing Valentine’s Day filled with love! This year, my valentine and I had the pleasure of dining out at the restaurant Fogo de Chao. If you haven’t heard of this restaurant before, it is a Brazilian Steakhouse that is known for its all-you-can-eat meat that is carved off metal stakes by the servers right at your table. My date and I were lucky enough to get the best seat in the house where we not only were steps away from the market table where you can enjoy an extensive array of Brazilian sides, salads, soups, cheeses, and more- but we also sat next to the giant glass window where you can watch all the slabs of meat get seasoned, roasted, and grilled. It was quite an experience to say the least! In fact, the official term for the dining experience we received was called the “Churrasco Experience.” The churrasco experience can be quite overwhelming, even if you do prepare by starving until dinner time. Servers are constantly walking around with sticks full of meats and steaks just ready to slice them onto open plates. To help you pace yourself while dining, Fogo de Chao offers little cards that are green on one side and red on the other. Hence, my clever title! ;) When your card is flipped to green, it basically means, “Bring on the meats!” When your card is flipped to red, the servers know to give you break so you can take a breather or possibly wipe the sweat from your brow… We enjoyed everything from Filet Mignon, rabbit, and juicy flank steak, to bacon wrapped chicken and parmesan encrusted pork tenderloin. One of the most unique things I got to try at dinner was Queijo Assado- a Brazilian cheese that was grilled until it was warm and gooey on the inside and crispy and golden brown on the outside. The server poured a spicy malagueta honey on top that made for an incredible salty, sweet, and cheesy flavor that I’ve never experienced before. The market table also had some of my favorite dishes of the night which included a buttery and creamy butternut squash soup, a bright basil sauce that complemented steak excellently, and a smoky roasted cauliflower dish.

I cannot recommend Fogo de Chao enough and am so grateful to have gone for such a special occasion! If anyone else has been here before or plans to visit in the near future, please let me know in the comments below!
